Like so many other parts of wedding event preparation, creating your wedding event invite phrasing is all about finding out what the guidelines are … then figuring out how you want to break them by being creative so you can make your own. Come up with phrasing that makes everyone happy without crying.
No matter how creative you want to be, never missed out the basic details
Who are you?
What are you doing?
When and where are you doing it?
How this basic information is expressed will represent your value, to the kind of wedding you’re going to have, to your creative taste. The invitation is still a means to send out information, not more and not less.
Here is an example of a complete Standard Wedding Invitation with labels.
THE HOST LINE: States the list of who’s hosting the wedding, which is something of a philosophical concern. In times past, the bride’s household always hosted and spent for the wedding. Luckily, those days are done except for some Indian Traditional Weddings. You can put a general line “Together with their families.” if you do not wish to state all of your parent’s name.
Do not forget that no matter how big the host has given you, the host line on the wedding invite isn’t for sale; it’s an honor that you need to bestow that you’re comfortable with and names are not placed in order of who paid more or who paid at all.
THE INVITE LINE: This is where you invite people. “The honor of your presence” is utilized to signify a religious service while “The pleasure of your company” is used to represent a secular one, though you can write any phrasing you want.
THE NAMES: This line appears self-evident till you begin considering the details. Which name comes first? Traditionally, it belongs to the bride-to-be, but now it is mostly circumstantial (same sex marriages not applicable).
THE INVITATION LINE: What is the nature of the event? You can use the following lines: “As they exchange vows of love and commitment,” “At the celebration of their marriage,” or “As they finally connect the knot.”
THE INFO: This is the one and only line where we highly encourage you to stay with the basics, given that you desire people to adhere to this thing. Time, date, and the area must all be listed (though the address does not have to be, assuming it’s otherwise easy to find).
THE CELEBRATION LINE: What’s coming after the wedding event? This is your time to get fun, celebrate, and your time to offer visitors a solid idea of exactly what to anticipate. This is the chance to say “Cake, punch, and celebration to follow,” if you are not serving the full meal. “Supper and dancing directly follows,” or notify them of a space of time or location modification, “Party to follow at 7 pm at Delfina.” You can also utilize this line just to get creative and set the tone for the event. “70’s Music awaits you” for style in 70’s.
